I think that feeling the need to apologize for being "late" to a game that is 5 pages in and started like 2 hours ago is something that psychologically someone only does when they think it seems townie to do aka they are mafia and trying to appear townie and most townies wouldn't even remotely think twice about being here 2 hours in or whatever it's been

I think it depends on the individual but overall you are correct in that townies dont particularly care to explain why they are late, have a brownie point.
