A villain who can pull something to make fans hate him and root for Luffy is what we need.

Badass aura and cool design are fine but a villain has done good job when he ends up pulling something to make fans hate him.

IMU has to do something of that sort for me to feel him as a villain. As of now, he's coming across as Kaido on steroids. That's all.

First, IMU's COC is stronger than Shanks, because he is King of the World, while Shanks is just CD offspring, just a peasant to Imu.

Second, Imu fought against JB 800 years ago, you can't say that Imu was on the same power lvl as now;

Third, Dorry and Broggy are not that powerful to be able even scale the power of someone like Imu or Shanks, or WB - all of them are monsters for them;

Fourth, Imu defeated JB in unfair battle, when Imu was alone;

Also, both Mihawk and Shanks are frauds who never even try to face Imu, unlike Xebec. Shanks was only scheming against Imu but feared declaring war on Imu in his face.

He went from getting one shotted by Kaidou to straight Bonking him with bajrang at the end of the arc.
