One ting that was really odd about Imu last chapter was him asking who the King of Elbaf was even though she should be aware that they have no King (I mean he tried to make Domi-Dorry and Domi-Broggy Kings for that reason)
He also attacked the giants minimally which is odd given he was talking about breaking their spirit or sumin when he first descended on Elbaf via possession of Gunko.
So I think he might still be trying to preserve the Elbaf army in order to use them as his puns in the future.

Loki's stocks became safe the moment Oda gave him a legendary fruit that is only second to Nika narrative-wise. *If* Shanks beat him then Shanks is simply that strong and was hiding his full strenght until Nika is back, not that Loki is weak.
Only way he won't be a major player in the final saga is if he's die this arc, but considering Oda been hinting a relationship with Shirahoshi I doubt it's happening.
