See I think that makes you an exception because a lot of people rank based on a blend of both criteria. Which I think is somewhat fair because manga is a visual medium at the end of the day
I'd say that's true.

For me, as long as I can make out what's going on in the majority of the panels, it's fine lol.

I remember having issues with MHA panels during fights, but worked through it lmao.

But it does feel unfair when say HxH gets knocked down a peg in rankings because Togashi’s failing health doesn’t allow him to draw to the best of his ability. And then you get that weird grey area where the artwork is stellar but the writing isn’t always up to par (OPM in certain arcs)
Yeah for me personally, art doesn't play as big of a part in manga quality as does the writing. And I agree with your sentiment here.

Where do you place One Piece currently? How do you feel about it?
Oh man, I stopped reading chapters all the way back in Wano. When I get bored I check out some spoiler threads to have some fun. Maybe I'll pick it up one day, because I still wanna know the lore behind the story ngl, but I don't quite rate it as high as most people do.

Loki is going shake one piece community fantasy powerscaling.
Imu praise Loki strength.

Then future chapters oda troll fanbase by having Shanks beat loki in fight quickly and capture him thanks to giants and his crew. To create choas across fanbase. And Lee would rage quit manga forever and delete his account.

Unspoken rule- mid gen are strongest of all Era until new generation.
To be fair, Lee has been bizarrely accurate when it comes to Loki.

He even somehow predicted Saint Shanks becoming a thing lol

One Piece isn't just the most successful serialisation of its era. It's a historic body of work.

By its deeply emotional nature, generations will be passing the story down. Parent to child, sibling to sibling, one generation to the next.

You just can't see it yet because the story isn't over. We don't yet live in a world where One Piece is a completed work that can be handed off.
I do think people downplay how much OP will still be talked about after it’s completion

Historic though? Amongst manga then yeah I can see that

I think if anime (as a whole) doesn’t completely fall off a cliff then One Piece will be a topic of discussion pretty much forever. It has more staying power due to the nature of the story

Honestly my opinion on this changes by the day. On one hand it doesn’t really make sense to exclude art when rating a manga because the composition of a panel alone can enhance a scene or change it completely

I remember reading a post about Togashi not wanting his assistants to take over for him while he does the writing because he wouldn’t feel like it’s his anymore. Honestly, when you think about how big of a part that art plays in a manga’s creation I kinda see where he’s coming from

I mean the expressions alone can absolutely make or break a scene. That’s why I’m split on the issue

Can’t blame you I’m far from the biggest Wano fan around. If it makes you feel any better I really do think OP after Wano is much better than Wano itself

There’s less traction here than there was in Wano because there are less agendas to push but I’d say Oda regained his footing

DBZ to me is one of those 'turn off your brain and just have fun' manga/form of media. Like the majority of comic book movies. You put it on when you wanna have some fun and relax.

But DBZ is legendary because it went above and beyond a simple manga.

Goku is inspiring people even today to hit the gym.
I understand your position on DBZ. Again, the same was my view on DBZ when I watched the first part of it, but Vegeta/Freeza arc exceeded by any expectation. I can easily say that this is the best arc in shonen overall. No matter if I compare it with Naruto or One Piece. It has everything: tension, character death, actually strong villains, LOR. Everything.

But this is why I felt when the plot fell off.
