Mihawk being a Nerona is pretty much the only shot he has at being relevant in the final saga

If anything the fake Mihawk fans are the ones that don't care about his relevancy in the story and simply want him to be a benchmark for EOS Zoro rather than an actual character. That's why I never clowned the people that were hoping and praying for Holy Knight Mihawk

It was an easy way for Oda to hint at Mihawk's past and explore his deep connection with Shanks

You can't blame them for wanting more for their boy
