The manga at least gives us a chapter of him as Hokage. Iirc, the Anime doesn't even have that, it ends on him being married to Hinata..I guess under the assumption that Boruto was going to be a bigger thing, and they could save Hokage Naruto for that......

They run the economic/political powers of the world, that ultimately fund the ninja villages, but the concept isn't really explored past the Chunin exams, and yeah, getting rid of them could have been more clearly a goal of Pain/Obito/Madara etc

Exactly. Why do you even care to listen to the orders of greedy frauds? Those Daime weren't ever even good rulers. They were bad - started wars for fun. Again, this is another reason why I never felt good about Naruto's ending. Naruto promised Nagato to end all wars; he was the chosen one. And for what? Boruto exists, which means all prophecies in Naruto were lies. Basically, Naruto didn't accomplish a thing. He didn't fulfill any of the promises and duties that he was supposed to take care of.
