I think theyre saying newcomers feel like the forum is extremely hostile and no amount of "its just trolling" will make it illogical for people to see the posters here as annoying pieces of shit who make their dependence on a cartoon they hate everyone elses problem

You say its just the internet, but a lot of people on this site are like the person who goes up to happy people at a bar and insists on making their day worse because they need to spread misery to everyone else

It's not even that bad here. There was a poll, score Piece outta 10 and the vast majority of votes were above 5 i.e. positive.

We just had a Best Supporting Character Design thread, four finalists, two of them One Piece characters. 1/2 the finalists, 50% of finalists, One Piece characters.

On some level, the majority of people here do actually like One Piece on some level even if they have a hard time showing it. Lol.

Piratefolk is far more negative than here. I’d say that and the main OP subreddit skew heavily on opposite sides of the spectrum on their views of the series.

WG is somewhere in the middle, where there’s a balance of both, with the majority probably being in the “like it a fair amount” category.

Trolling is like drinking alcoohol, it's good once in a while, but if you do it everyday just to feel connected, you need a reality check and accept the fact that you are addicted. Trolling transforms into the expressing of an emotion, a negative one in this case.

There is something we learn when we do politics. It's that negativity can be understood through systemic means. Taken alone, these threads are nothing, they are meaningless, not really a threat. Love that fainted transformed into hatred. But the problem arrives when you take a step back like I just showed you. What you saw here is just me taking a note out of 10 negative thread that I was seeing every week during just a few month, and yet they were not separate items, but a constant flow of pure illegitimated hatred, connected in their reasonning.

You need to understand that water doesn't hurt on its own. But water that flows and build up over time will shape mountains. And you are talking in a forum that has been shaped by a constant flow of negativity over time. A flow you are not aware of or that you deny, your choice.

To counter this flow, a positive equal and opposite amount of positivity must happen. This type of thing does not exist here. We tried, without result. Every type of positive outcome was systematically destroyed. This is not an accident, it's by design. So we need to reshape the design that allows this flow to happen.

What I want, and what you do not understand, is not for negativity to disappear. I want for this place to be INCLUSIVE. Meaning that it needs to include people who don't like things... but ALSO people who likes things too, people who do not risk to be actually harmed either by constant trolling or actuall problematic behaviors in the process of sharing.

Because where there is hatred, there is always reactionnaries. And with the hate of One Piece, comes behaviors and values that can actually hurt the marginalized, women, disabled, etc.

You need to give up this strawman of your that I'm seeking for a positivity bubble and actually listen to what I'm saying and showing.

I am aware of it . I do not care and it doesnt affect me in the slightest. it is art , simple as. from 2020 and to current day oden is the best character in the series. I havent taken the time to but do a scope of the entire forum what most people think here of his character and they feel differently. it doesnt affect me in the slightest and people who feel his character arc was a complete miss have every right to . if people feel unwelcome by the threads you highlighted there , I will be honest with you, these people were fairly mentally unstable anyway.

I don't like most of the critics I see. Not because they are negative, but because they are based on illegitimated basis. On fallacious principle and most of the time on bad faith argumentations. BUT, this wouldn't be a problem if the phenomenon was not generalized and constant.

This wouldn't be a problem if a person taking the time to craft something good in a thread would not be hit with negativity and trolling (and I'm not talking about my case here). This wouldn't be a problem if looking at the One Piece section was not a trolling and hatred fest that freeze any positive fan to share something about their passion.

The problem is the generalization and the systemism of the Negativity.

Your idea of inclusivity sort of impedes on the ability of others to feel included . Op fans may sometimes raise general negative points on the direction of the series but its not all in totality , vast majority of people here are very much still engaged so what exactly is your meter of whether the scale is overly positive or negative? is there an objective answer or is it more of a feel that varies from person to person.


Then there is of course the bigger question in the room , why grown adults feel personally attacked because other people hate the story they read. why did it become personal? would be understandable if its their story, their art, perhaps a personal contribution they made. what exactly is behind this attachment.
