Why is it so hard to imagine that Shanks beat Loki fair and square?

Loki vs Imu is scaling too much, even more than we though. That's why

Either shanks beat a heavily nerfed loki (more nerfed than he is currently against imu) or shanks has some kind of hidden god DF he only used against loki.

Shanks' haki powers are well know. He at best is roger level by portrayal. Loki at age 16 in human terms completely destroyed HK amped harald where even base harald scales to PK level.

I agree, from what we've seen Shanks is Oda's golden boy. I hardly imagine that he is weaker than Loki and even Luffy G5 right now. If Shanks after all these years is proven to be weaker than Loki, well I will rise my hands and I will admit I was wrong. But, as for now, all the signals indicates he is above. My humble opinion of course.

But then what the point of the story making a big deal of Elbaf's fruit if you *just* need strong haki to beat it?
Shanks beating Loki because he got some haki boost is not technically impossible, but it would be such a jarring choice as Xebec should have further trained his haki instead of begging Harald to join him and eat the fruit for years.
