The chapter is focused entirely on Brook, his history, and how he ended up becoming a pirate. The chapter continues directly in Elbaf without a manga break, expanding the flashback of the Esperia Kingdom from 70 years ago.

It is dedicated to explaining his youth, his deep relationship with the royal family, and how his peaceful days serving King Reuven, whom Brook says he owes everything in life to set him on his ultimate path.

Because of a sudden, impending danger that threatens the kingdom, a panic is triggered within Esperia. This crisis forces the royal family into an urgent situation, leading Queen Candelle (the popular former leader of the Battle Convoy) and defense forces to make a desperate escape plan. The Queen leaves Esperia along with King Reuven and the 7-year-old Princess Shuri to travel directly to "That Place" (Marijoa).

Upon their departure, the royal family leaves Brook behind in the kingdom. Despite being only 20 years old in this flashback, Brook is left in charge of the kingdom and tasked with defending the remnants of his homeland in their absence.

This journey explains how Princess Shuri, who is a child here, eventually falls under the control of the World Government, ultimately becoming brainwashed to serve Imu as Gunko. The flashback in this chapter is completely dedicated to Brook's past to maintain its emotional pacing. It does not cut back and forth to present-day battles like Sanji clashing with the Rain Goddess Zaza or Loki fighting Imu. Additionally, Queen Candelle does not die during their escape; her fate is left unresolved and is tied to the current "mystery" of Shuri's current-day role.

Brook does not fight any Holy Knights in this flashback. The primary conflict that established his hero status in Esperia was resolving the threat from the local gangster group, and no Holy Knights are active in the kingdom during this period.
