If Oda went with the latter, that would have been way more annoying.

It is best to get rid of this flashback now, so that way we will have no interruptions during Zoro and Sanji's fight against the Holy Knights.

He could have done this back when Gunkmu and Brook first had that interaction. Now we’re at the climax of the fight, nobody gives a shit about Brook anymore.

For some reason I just never really cared for Vergo, his personality is too serious and boring, don't really care for his design, and I don't find his food stuck on cheek gag funny.

But I can see why some do like his character.
