but imo, One Piece is by far one of the best pieces of literature created yet, far above Shakespeare.
Personally I haven't read Shakespeare
:Shadow_Unimpressed:

I, for one, believe Shakespeare is overrated, but yall OP fans gotta chill with this 'OP is the best piece of literature' talk.

One Piece isn't even the best shonen, let alone the best manga, and let's not even talk about the best piece of literature.

If engagement is your reason for it being the best, there's tons of slop out there equally, and more, engaging and popular than OP and by extension literature, but it's still slop at the end of the day. Think superhero movies, sitcoms, even other manga. Demon Slayer literally destroyed the scale and put One Piece to shame one year in sales and engagement, and yet it's still nothing special. Gojo vs Sukuna in JJK had the entire internet moving differently chapter to chapter from the pure hype, and that was at a time when there was finally a long awaited battle of a Yonko vs Admiral, in Luffy and Kizaru, and no one cared about that with Gojo vs Sukuna in the picture.

I keep coming back to this point, but just because you, and I mean 'you' in general, not you specifically, like something a lot or find it entertaining, that doesn’t make it the best.

Lmao

Not a relevant question. I have a better question for you :

How many pieces of storytelling have you ever really analyzed?

"OuT Of CuRiOsItY" of course
That is a legit question wether it sounds pretentious to some people or not.

I believe that a manga with chapters released every week since the late 90s cannot be a perfect because it is getting quickly repetitive among many other points. There is a reason why most stories take time in the author’s mind to flesh out. It’s a lot of work. Not just something that you can publish 1100 chapters in a row…

But whatever, original poster isn’t even discussing the worth of One Piece but its social impact. And he is right about it. Thanks internet, spoiler culture and the anime too I guess.

I don't know if One Piece is the best pieces of literature since I don't read much other literature. But what I know for a fact is that Oda is a man of superstition, nothing is coincidence, everything happens for a reason, it's a work of fate. He matches all numbers, names, dates, and other connection as if they would bring good fortune.

Perhaps you should rethink twice before gatekeeping storytelling when I'm around, especially toward someone with a positive opinion about One Piece which happens once in a thousand time on this forum.

People tried that. They didn't like it.

:beckmoji:
One thing Is praising One Piece, another is coming with a total uninformed and arbitrary take in the hope of being taken seriously.

Who cares, it's my opinion

The online One Piece experience is 1000x times better than that of reading any older literature
The intrinsic value of a work of art doesn’t concide solely with that of someone’s subjective experience…
Moreover, i have a very hard time conceiving how the online reading experience, discussing with total unknowns, is any better than going to theatre/ movie theatre with my friends and making more along the way…
