General & Others One Piece is by far one of the best pieces of literature yet

Shakespeare fans will tell you that his stories are timeless.

That's a polite way of saying nobody has finished updating them since 1616.

Shakespeare's greatest strength is that every sentence requires a translator. If *One Piece* needed footnotes every three lines, people would call it bad writing. When Shakespeare does it, apparently it's genius.

Hamlet spends five acts deciding whether to do something.

Luffy decides to do something before breakfast.

Shakespeare's fans say his characters are complex. Of course they're complex. Half the time nobody knows what they're talking about.

A *One Piece* fan can explain the entire political structure of the World Government from memory.

A Shakespeare fan needs a study guide to order lunch.

People call Shakespeare the GOAT because he influenced literature.

You know who else influenced literature?

The invention of paper.

Shakespeare's biggest mystery is whether a character poisoned somebody.

Oda's biggest mystery has kept the internet in a state of collective insanity for decades.

Shakespeare wrote 38 plays.

Oda accidentally puts more foreshadowing into a background newspaper.

Shakespeare fans love saying "You just don't understand Shakespeare."

Correct.

Nobody understands Shakespeare.

That's why every edition comes with enough annotations to qualify as a second book.

Reading Shakespeare sometimes feels like trying to decrypt an ancient military transmission.

Reading *One Piece* feels like witnessing mythology being created in real time.

Romeo met Juliet and immediately ruined both of their lives.

Luffy meets people and liberates entire countries.

One inspires teenagers to make bad decisions.

The other inspires people to chase their dreams.

Shakespeare created tragic heroes.

Oda created characters so beloved that fans hold yearly debates over which fictional pirate would be best at paying taxes.

That's cultural impact.

Macbeth destroys his kingdom because of ambition.

Doflamingo destroys a kingdom because he's Doflamingo.

Checkmate.

Shakespeare fans celebrate famous quotes.

One Piece fans celebrate entire character arcs.

One group memorizes a sentence.

The other group memorizes a thousand chapters.

The average Shakespeare character has two settings:

1. Monologue.
2. Dead.

The average *One Piece* character has enough backstory to emotionally devastate an entire continent.

Shakespeare wrote for a stage.

Oda built a civilization.

Shakespeare fans act like he's untouchable because he survived 400 years of criticism.

That's easy.

Try surviving 25 years of weekly manga deadlines.

The real reason Shakespeare is considered the greatest writer of all time is because nobody wants to argue with English teachers.

Shakespeare walked so storytellers could run.

Oda took one look at the track, stole a pirate ship, and disappeared beyond the horizon.
The fact you had to use AI to write your point shows the average literacy IQ of the average OP fan

Idk what is more ridiculous, your reply or that people are liking it
Mate, that post better be AI generated because it is embarrassingly nonsensical.

Criticizing Shakespeare because the English language has changed in 400 years to the point that English speaking people struggle to understand English that old is a retarded take.

You are essentially criticising a 16th century man for not writing in 20th century English.

as a child i had an audiobook called something like the best tales of william shakespeare. with shortened and modern language. i liked hamlet, midsummer night's dream and macbeth. romeo and juliet was icky, i considered romance gay. at around the same time i also watched one piece on tv. i think i liked one piece alot more, so my 6-10 (not sure) year old self would have agreed strongly with mr blah.

today as a mature adult, i must say that the earl of oxford was a more skilled storyteller. nontheless they might read one piece in european schools instead of "shakespeare's" plays in the future. literacy is in sharp decline. the "diverse" student population would do alot better with pictures instead of paragraphs of text already. soon they will control their devices soley through verbal commands. but don't worry, that is also how goethe wrote his later works. he dictated them to his secretaries. such progress. everyone can be goethe now. what great art awaits us. even greater works than oda's are coming...

DB is pure nostalgia slop. Grossly overrated series

wouldn’t survive a day in the current market without the legacy benefits
Looking back on it, I think it's actually the superior product to One Piece now.

The entire dragon ball manga is just over 500 chapters. It covered multiple sagas before One Piece wrapped up nonsense arcs like Wano or Dressrosa.

One Piece is far too dragged to be objectively good at this point.

150 chapters of Dragon Ball takes you from Raditz to the Androids. 150 chapters of One Piece now gives you just Wano. :josad:
