It's really baffling just how little Oda cared to write the Beast Pirates as a crew, and in terms of powers and to make them look like a threat and to show the dynamics of the crew.
Haven’t gotten that far yet (on episode 150 when they’d just entered Hueco Mundo and Rukia froze the sand arranacar Rununanga or whatever) but it ain’t looking good for Hitsugaya the way he struggled with Shawlong (no. 11) and Luppi. Luppi went “I’ve got 8 arms” and whacked him so hard he was out of commission for a while.

Atleast Stark you can say has the raw speed to tango with R1 Ulquiorra if not even outspeed him, Halibel was straight up a tier below Ulquiorra.
Part of what made Hueco Muendo so hype was knowing how much of a monster even the 6th Espada was, and then with the Ulquiorra reveal it got even crazier because even Ichigo thought there's no way he isn't #1. It made the moment so hype but it was all fake hype as Ulquiorra was in fact the strongest Espada the entire time. He used Ulq and Grimmjow's power levels to fool us into thinking the Espadas really were a next lvl threat when more than anything those 2 end up looking like anomalies after he lowered Espada #3s level to match her fodder opponent. He made them too strong and then backtracked, Kubo never stands on business. He did the same with Byakuya's death in the final war.
