Please explain to what extent Kisame was substantially retconned in part 2? He literally just does Akatsuki work and hunts down tailed beasts, which is what's implied that he does in part 1. At no point does Kisame beat Orochimaru or anything like Itachi does at least, it's literally your power level headcanon. Like the most you have is some guy saying that Kisame is fit to be partners with Itachi, but we pretty much know that already. Itachi is still ordering him around and has Kisame fanboying

Same with Hiruzen>Minato/Tobirama, they're not really important enough to retcon.

You can only really argue that Hashirama/Itachi are exceptions from part 1 statements, because they get new narratives in ship

You're misunderstanding, I'm saying that Kisame doesn't get a ton of narrative relevance to suddenly make his part 1 portrayal void, not that he's inherently weaker than anyone because of him being less important to the story, what's relevant is his own statements.(Hashirama is an example of a character who is a lot stronger because he suddenly becomes very important to the story as the man who stopped Madara, while he has no special narrative in part 1, and also asura stuff etc)

Doing better than hebi Sasuke is good, but Hebi Sasuke never fairly beat Orochimaru anyway, so I don't have any issue with the scaling here
