7th Gate Gai in part 2 was clearly way stronger than Old Hiruzen (and Prime Hiruzen if we're being honest), but Kakashi only felt comfortable placing 8th Gate Gai above the Hokage.

Well, idk how to convert how much chakra it takes to make a clone as opposed to a rakari, but sure, it can be inconsistent. Do you think the inconsistencies don't exist in part 2 though? If not, it's kind of a meaningless point

Kakashi isn't saying that 8 gate allows him to surpass *the Hokage*, he's saying the hokages. plural. If 7 gate Hokage is>Old Hiruzen, but still weaker than Minato, he still hasn't clearly surpassed the Hokages. Also, Kakashi doesn't really have first hand perspective for....any of this? So for a general estimate, it's not really terrible, it generally lines up with the PL's of the gates and the Hokages.

Lol, why are you acting like Sakura would be personally familiar with Hiruzens power level anyway? She hasn't seen him fight at this point.

Hokage is being treated as a level of strength in the statement, as opposed to just naming an individual(which Kakashi could have done). It's part of all 4 of them being relative in part 1.

I don't want to get into the Minato thing lol, I do unironically think he stopped Minato's summoning because he finally realized they were being brought back(Minatos tomb was last), regardless, don't confuse actual PL's for perception in universe anyway. Even if Minato was factually a good bit stronger than the others(like Hashirama canonically ends up), it doesn't change the fact that Konoha essentially views them on the same level, with Hiruzen being above Minato(again, it can be true or false, but I mean wrt to in universe perspective )

But if it's only meant to force an emotional connection between Shuri/Gunko and the readers before the upcoming scenes with her and Brook in Elbaph, then it's just not worth it. A montage of feel good and tear jerking moments isn't enough to manipulate the audience into caring. Especially not when it's holding up the biggest encounter in this 30 year series

This flashback reason is just to put the Piano in the Bush(Gunko), just to save SH from defeat. This is really what you should call shitty writing. Aspulls like that could happen only in Games arc of Fairy Tail
