Ngl I'm wondering if Loki is based on one of Oda's favourite actors or something because this is honestly really safe treatment he's getting.

Especially considering that Imu treated him with seemingly more respect so far than Luffy.

Luffy will probably be stronger by the end but still.

Usopp dying would make Imu some real threat and make beating him up personal for the Strawhats.

Also Usopp's story ending here is fine if he completes his dream.

But how can Usopp ever return home to Syrup Village and tell Kaya real adventure stories that sound more unbelievable than his lies if he dies here? It was a promise. If anything, we need to assume crazy things from Usopp without dying to fulfill this promise.
