Imu felt the haki of his mortal enemy whom he thought he defeated centuries ago, that same enemy likely was an extreme diff fight. Of course he would react that way.
These dumb mfs really thought a guy who powercliffed rocks and harald (admirals slayers as rookies) was gonna be weaker than some bum condom boy who can’t last 5 minutes against a admiral
tldr its a combo of thinking zoro is hot shit beside anyone in the arc introduced + they thinking they had another shot ZKK 3.0 by Zoro slaying loki + hyping up kaido (who is a literal inferior version of Loki even in universe) because the paper cut zoro gave him that went nowhere is the only relevant thing zoro done in the past 130 chapters and everyone calling him a filler yonko
As a few have said, this isn't where Imu shall be defeated, but it is just a slog to have to endure through it.
As Imu is just a boring, uninspired villain. I know Oda wants us to think he's The Ultimate Super Ultra Villain of Doom, but I say, big deal. Give anyone else the most broken and overpowered DF in the series and they'd be no less dangerous.
