Well Oda having Zoro's finisher against King being used as Zoro first named move against Sommers and it being swatted aside without apparent difficulty is pretty obvioustly Oda telling the reader this version of Sommers is a level above a YC1. Omen boosted HKs are above high tiers, does it make them top tiers though? The gap between a high high tier and a (low) top tier is pretty wide.

This is the issue — Old Gaban is logically the weakest or one of the weakest top-tiers. A good point of reference would've been to have Sommers clash with him again for example, then we would've seen a before and after.

Sommers was more than likely a bum to Zoro before, and now he's not, so clearly Sommers is far above any high tier but how does he compare to say Yamato, Law, Gaban, Ryokugyu etc... Obviously Oda doesn't care about such things but without a point of reference, we'll never be able to scale these guys beyond "Super Sommers is significantly stronger than King".

Nah, all Gaban can really do is show off FS I guess. He avoids DR with that, but Imu has some pretty big AOE attacks iirc, so it shouldn't matter much. He's already said Imu has Haki like he's never even felt before, and Shanks was hyping up Imu as an unstoppable opponent that no one could take down in the same room as Gaban.(The Roger pirates are the only ones who even knew about Imu, so Guess who Oda was talking about)

Loki also got several chapters of fighting Imu, while imo Gaban is brought in for more lore related reasons. More like Marco in Wano, he has knowledge about the villains that no one else does. I don't think he can get the Rayleigh role of fighting the villain and being the star of the arc.
