Yes they're close, i actually think they are like Dorry and Broggy but they can also be considered Sabo and Ace though Ace had some edge over Sabo.

I actually think Zoro is a great character but his fans for years wanted to separate him from Sanji because of his bad showing and they wanted him to be closer to Luffy then Sanji, which i can understand but they went too far by attacking Sanji and his fans.

I think Zoro and Sanjis lvls are close but not consistent and sometimes one has edge over other which change constantly. Anyway with Sanji awakening COC, i hope this madness will stop.
