After getting motivation for the task from Vivi, Luffy leads the good guy alliance to Mariejois, where he eventually defeats Imu.

But Blackbeard, nominally an ally to Imu, sails to the battle, annihilating his erstwhile allies with Pluton and finishes off Imu, with the good guys temporarily withdrawing due to the threat of Pluton and their main leader exhausted and weak from beating Imu.
