Nope, who says Ju Peter can be removed? Just because the sword Gram is already being used that doesn't mean Peter can't fight Sanji, there is no rule that says that.

Peter might not even use a weapon if he fights against Sanji.

And in a case for Zoro vs Nusjuro, the sword Muramasa might belong to Nusjuro's family, but Nusjuro might not use it, and will instead just use the Shodai Kitetsu.

You are on the assumption that the Elders will have to use the weapons as well, but the thing is they might not use it.

So no Peter is not ruled out.

Naw it will be Peter not Mars(Not against Mars though), I don't think you get what Oda is trying to do.

Zoro and Sanji's fights in this current arc is against Sommers and Killingham, Zoro is fighting a Sommers who is a member of the Shepherd Family, and Sanji is fighting Killingham who is a mythical centaur.

Now look at the Five Elders, Ju Peter is a member of the Shepherd Family and Nusjuro is a mythical centaur.

The whole point of Oda having Zoro vs Sommers and Sanji vs Killingham, is so that way when they fight against the Elders, the matchup will then be switched.

There is also a reason why when it came to the Five Elders(With Saturn) both Peter and Nusjuro stood out in terms of design compared to the others.

Sanji imo was always going to fight at least one of the Shepherd Family members, and the whole Sanji vs Mars always depended on his Elbaf matchup.
Nah, I honestly think you’re overthinking this. First, everyone was saying Sanji was 100% gonna fight Sommers and that would later lead to Sanji vs Ju Peter. But now that he’s fighting Killingham, it means Oda did that so he could later switch Zoro and Sanji’s opponents? Why would he do that?

Whom was Sanji supposed to fight in Elbaf for the Mars matchup to be confirmed? Because it sounds like you’re saying Sanji vs Ju Peter was always confirmed, regardless of what was gonna happen. If he fought a member of the Shepherd family in Elbaf, it would confirm the matchup, but if he didn’t, it would also confirm the matchup. Imo that’s just trying to bend facts so they would align with a pre-established idea. Ideas should adapt to facts, not the other way around.

In Egghead, Mars stood out much more than Ju Peter. He fought the SHs and did important things, just like Nusjuro, which imo is much more telling than things like clothes. When did Zoro and Sanji’s opponents’ clothes ever mattered before? Ju Peter isn’t even a confirmed CoC user as of now, unlike the other two.

Oda isn’t obsessed with matchups like we are, so we shouldn’t overanalyze these things. He doesn’t have some kind of super clever, hidden plan for things like matchups, he just does what he feels like doing. The Sanji vs Sommers thing completely fell apart despite the whole love theme, that should serve as a lesson to all of us. Let’s be more simplistic when it comes to predicting matchups.

Sommers is a swordsman and apparent leader of the HK trio -> he’s Zoro’s fight. Killingham is the other HK that’s not a girl -> he’s Sanji’s fight. If we just sticked with what was shown in their introduction, we wouldn’t have been fooled. It’s like King being a swordsman and quarreling with Queen in their introduction (I insist that one was very predictable, but people complicated things). We gotta keep a simple approach.

Now, I agree that the Shepherd family’s weapon being a sword doesn’t per se disqualify Ju Peter as a potential opponent for Sanji, but based on what we’ve seen on Egghead, Mars is a much more likely candidate imo.

Man I'm not gonna lie I'm pretty intrigued by the ancient weapons of the world nobles.
Would be very interesting to see to see if each of them have their unqiue lore and feats in relation to the World Govt. conquering the world. I do find it interesting that Longinus feels a bit like an outlier amongst them given it's naming. The others all have vicious conotations, whereas Lognius in constrast feels a bit noble.
Also it seems like Oda is applying the actual legends of the blades into their actual abilities and their usage is also baked into the context it is used in. For example with "Nemesis" Loki, was actively trying to defy Imu (god and order of the one piece world). Stigma is tied to branding marking and it's abilities are homing, Imu marks his targets with Omen and then attacks the mark and so on so Longinus will most likely be tied to invicibility/dominion. It's also interesting that Oda's pitting a Holy Spear against Sanji, a character with a lot of devil themes and even outright devil transformations when he's mad. So I can't help but feel that Oda is going to draw some sort of thematic contrast here. Yh I can't shake the feeling that Longinus will prove to be a weapon that cannot be countered logically speaking and I reckon PoL is gonna be the counter to it as that ability defies reason. Interested in what y'all thoughts are on this ^^

I do hope each of these weapon have a unique ability and they’re not just “really sharp and powerful swords”
