Here is how Oda adds "drama" to the story after timeskip: he cuts off a character's arm (Kid, Law, Perospero, Inuarashi, Hawkins, Kiku, Gaban). He kills off allied characters who were recently introduced and are tertiary figures to the audience (Ashura Doji, Izou, Pedro, Vegapunk and his satellites).
Honestly, anyone who defends this kind of writing is being intellectually dishonest.

Gaban probably would have told lore stuff to Luffy, maybe about Shanks or about the Man marked by flames himself. If the Roger pirates are going to hold on to RP's, why not just keep all of them lmao?
