Man, Kaido’s mere existence struck so much fear into Prime Gaban that, for decades, he was never able to set foot in the country he loved so much.
Kaido was considered the strongest in the world throughout every era Gaban lived in. Kaido vs. Gaban should not even be a discussion. Comparing Prime Gaban to Kaido is already disrespectful to Kaido.

The main reason why characters like Old Gaban may seem stronger than Luffy at times is because old gen fighters are far more experienced haki users, they obviously have better haki control.
Both Gaban and Luffy can use ACOC, but Gaban has much finer haki control so he'd still overpower Luffy in a straight haki clash, but Luffy would still win due to his fruit massively increasing his stats while simultaneously adding toon force hax to his punches.

The things we have to read on this forum... People don’t even understand the basics of the manga, despite claiming they’ve been following it their entire lives. Incredible.
As if that weren’t enough, soon they’ll be putting old Gaban above Xebec or Prime Whitebeard, as though anything could ever surpass the immeasurable absurdity of placing Prime Gaban above Kaido. But with these people, nothing would surprise me.

The funny thing is... People aren't paying attention to the Man marked by flames. If someone like Loki, who was only mentioned once, powercliffed Kaido, I don't even want to imagine the kind of powercliff The man marked by flames will unleash if he's a villain.
If Oda decides he's a villain, he'll have the whole narrative going on that he must be defeated by Luffy or the other Yonko to obtain that last Poneglyph. And with his whirlpool powers (controlling water), he'll surely have a significant advantage against those with Devil Fruits.
