I think y’all are reading too much into this. Imu doesn’t say that Gaban is relative to Xebec just that he is a threat that he should’ve dealt with too.

Well, Pew's spoilers did mention Imu highlighting Gaban's strength as the reason for the Xebec comparison, and I don't think that Imu would draw such a line between the two if one could mid-diff the other or something lmao.

We should wait for the chapter to come out though. Perhaps some really shoddy translation is at work.

Because Gaban got the opportunity to use his strongest attack. Imu never saw Luffy's strongest attack. Imu took Luffy more seriously with Stigma. Gaban was lucky Imu never used Stigma.

From his track record failing to hit base Luffy and got 1 shot by Gunko, Stigma will blitz and 1 shot Gaban. That's the reality that Oda has been established in the manga.
