I think by far the most interesting faction that exists(?) within One Piece is the Ancient Kingdom themselves.

We know from Toki that, at least in the form of a Fruit, they had time travel. Was that all the time travel they had? How Chrono Trigger are we getting, here? Did they have cryo technology? Vegapunk does... Could they have put themselves in statis, for the future?

Since Laugh Tale is decidedly connected to the Ancient Kingdom... I believe Laugh Tale HAS Ancient Kingdom remnants, and that is who is guarding it (I also believe Pluton and Zunesha have Ancient Kingdom remnants living inside of them, who have been unable to leave since they entered during the Void Century).

IMO, the top tiers Roger fought weren't WG/other Pirates... but Ancient Kingdom forces, guarding Joy Boy's treasure.

Like the Roger Pirates remained in convenient places to aid Roger's successor, I believe there are a good number of Ancient Kingdom remnants that were on Joy Boy's side, and are awaiting his successor. I also think there's an evil Ancient Kingdom faction kicking around somewhere via ancient tech like cryogenics and time travel. If they DID time travel, they would just... pop up whenever they set their time to, like the Samurai did in Wano.

We've see Roger with Shiki, with Newgate, with Rocks, and it doesn't seem like Imu and Roger met again, especially with Gyaban saying he's never felt Haki like this before, not even on God Valley.

I think the only group of strong fighters Roger could really go through to reach Laugh Tale, is the Ancient Kingdom themselves. It couldn't have been the Marines, because, well, then they'd know where fucking Laugh Tale is.

Roger's big fight was against Ancient Kingdom forces in Laugh Tale, this is where he proved he was worthy of Joy Boy's legacy, and could help pass it down, IMO.

For me nothing changed powerscaling wise because I always said that while they grew weaker, old legends retained like 75-80% of their past power (except WB due to sickness) with some stamina issue, and they can tap close to their full power in short bursts (I'm basing myself on this SBS where Oda said it was a fantasy of his to draw old people that maintained their strenght). If you believe the age nerf is anything like real life, the powerscaling gets wonky and Prime Gaban might as well low diff Kaido with a single axe.

Xebec was fighting on par with Imu-merged Saturn for long enough that Kaido was begging him to let him join him.

They were trading blow-for-blow:

Xebec was not neg diffed in a conventional sense, he was hijacked by Imu's hax to fight everyone else once he exploited his emotional state of being worried about Eris and his son.

If Xebec was in Elbaf he would perform better than Gaban.

Xebec' downplaying is insane.

It doesn't make sense either way, Imu had a taste of Rogerbeard + Xebec + Garp (+ rocks duo) combo attack and he still surprised by Gaban strenght.
Are we mean to believe Old Gaban is a whole tier above all of these guys even if they weren't in their exact prime? I mean, I don't mind as it is more Kizaru upscale but it still feels off

Thst because GV version are weak. Oda state they are not prime version including whitebeard. What oda show old top tiers already showcase their near prime version. Old Garp Virve Card is not lying that Garp keep most of his prime strength while fighting Kuzan and blackbeard pirates.

Old gaban has better feats than God valley characters and he fought stronger enemies than HK Harald and Imu than DR Xebec.

It is simple, 25 years old Shanks is prime Roger level haki alone which it explain why he need time to grow stronger to get joy boy haki level.

HK Harald is literally facing two prime Roger level fighters and winning. It just HK Harald has better strength, endurance, and has immortal Regan. Young Shanks and Gaban has highest AP attacks to deal with Harald for reason but his coc is very strong.

It is just hybrid loki overwhelming Harlad like nothing, not base loki. Imu only beat bade loki.

I think Loki can damage Imu, but, like with Luffy and Bajrang Gun, Imu won't stay still for Loki's slower/stronger attacks to hit.

Luffy and Loki CAN damage Imu right now, but they'd have to slow him down, first. Which brings up a really interesting question: we've already seen Imu's silhouette slip out of Ragnir's Ice. Can Ragnir even freeze Imu? Can he use Haki to bust out?

I think the only 4 dudes fast/strong enough to get a good hit on Imu right now are Shanks/Mihawk/Kizaru, and maybe Kaido and hungry Big Mom. Like, Loki is not slow, and Gear 5 Luffy is fast as balls. Imu is a speed demon.

I think Loki/Luffy would need to do a much bigger wind-up to damage Imu, here.

Probably going to go back to this at some point in this arc, too.

Maybe??? Still hoping we see the God Valley panel replicated, with 6 top tiers going at Imu at once. Now that we have TOTAL confirmation the characters on God Valley weren't near their primes (except Rocks), it's possible Shanks/Mihawk/Luffy/Loki/Teach/Dragon in a 6-pronged attack can send this dude back home. I think it's gonna be Kuzan, not Dragon, but like, I'm just inserting Dragon into arcs until he shows up at this point, fuck.

Yes, exactly. Wouldn't be surprised is some of Joy Boy's Crew was even there on Laugh Tale, waiting for their Captain to be surpassed.

Like, I feel like it would be boring as hell for Roger to get to Laugh Tale without fighting anyone... but, if he fought anyone getting there, they would know about Laugh Tale.

So, if he fought people on Laugh Tale... either, Roger killed them all (which is possible, and can be argued is probably because of the Squard flashback), or, the people he fought on Laugh Tale were from there, and remained after he left.

Now that Imu has descended, I think we'll start seeing the Ancient Kingdom remnants make their moves.

I like this a lot, honestly.

Roger faced the Ancient Kingdom remnants to prove he was worthy of Joy Boy's treasure, and proved he was worthy by then leaving it for Luffy's generation to find, rather than being selfish and taking it anyway.

Luffy will face the CDs/Pirates/Marines in order to get to Laugh Tale. Whereas Roger had just Laugh Tale to deal with, Roger's announcement itself will guarantee Luffy has to go through an entire battle royale to reach the same treasure. I like that a lot.

Still hoping Shanks/Buggy find it first, and then Luffy finds it after them, since they missed out all those years ago.
