Controversial Naruto's Timeline is horrible

But it's not just him. It's even the adults like Kakashi thinking if someone was old enough to fight the First Hokage was immortal. And even the Anbu not knowing what the First and Second Hokage actually look like. When they were Edo Tensei'd during the Orochimaru vs Third fight.

The ANBU are not even that old as an organization most their members are like 30-40

Kakuzu is like 91 or something years old, when he DIED. That’s pretty damn old.

The timeline is quite weird. The Mizukage is a good example of that. Especially when it came to the Third Mizukage and Yagura and how long their reigns lasted

I love Naruto overall, but Kishimoto's writing is uneven at best.

There are so many gaps and unanswered questions in his work, I can't rate him that high anymore.

There's a few examples of inconsistency or other weird choices, but I don't think it's something worth loosing sleep over.

The first war ends when Hiruzen and Danzo were young adults, so about 50 years before the series.
The second war ends about 30 years prior to the series, when the Sanin are in their 20s
The third war ends when Kakashi is a teenager, so about a decade prior to the series. Tsunade, Jiraiya and Orochimaru leave Konoha around this time, but they all know about Naruto because of Minato and Kushina.

The reasons for the wars is explained by pain, as the great powers wanting to expand their resources and land. Just great powers competition, alongside states having bad relations over time. It's sort of a bad decision for Kishi to not really focus on the 5 villages at all really, but it's for the better to leave the series as it is. Potential spin offs about that time period wouldn't really be that good.

I believe it, you can see it with the land of the waves kind of. I think he overcorrected though, to the extent that Naruto doesn't really travel anywhere notable in pretty much all of part 2, besides the sand village I guess.

Yeah, the history of the world felt like a long weekend at times. The first Hokage was Tsunade's grandpa, so he's within living memory of the oldest people in the manga yet he's talked about as some sort of legendary figure from hundreds of years ago.
Hell, Konohagakure, being founded by Hashirama and Madara, shoukd be around the 100 year mark.
A hundred year old building in my neck of the woods is considered new lmao

tbf Tsunade is like 50 in pt1, and he was her granpa

so we can be charitable and say he and Madara probably founded the village around 120 years before pt1 if he was in his 60s when Tsunade was born. In a series where ninjas tend to die young it kinda makes sense only a few gens back is seemed like legendary

Maybe 10 years before the main timeline started.
- Third Great Ninja War, War Heroes like Minato, Ai showed up. Kakashi and Obito tragedy.

Maybe around 20~ish year later.
- Obitk declared fourth great Ninja War.

So putting it on a timeline.
- 20 year old Hiruzen (End of First great Ninja war)
- 40 year old Hiruzen (Start of Second great Ninja war)
- 56 year old Hiruzen (End of Third great Ninja war)
- 70 yeae old Hiruzen (If Alive) (Start of fourth great Ninja war)

All this happened in the span of 50~60 years timeline.
