Kaidou of the 100 Hostages didn't defeat a single top-tier fighter.
He showed plenty of expressions of pain against the Scabbards, Killer, Kid, Law, Luffy, and Zoro, and was ultimately defeated by a Luffy who had just awakened his fruit.
He was so irrelevant that Imu didn't even bother trying to kill him in Wano—unlike the actions taken against Rocks at God Valley, or the current pursuit of Loki and Luffy in Elbaf.

Imu already killed Cobra, Saturn, Lulusia, and Rocks (indirectly, no one is crediting that kill to Garling. Sommers could have absolutely done the same since he was standing next to him), and Ruvel indirectly.
Even if you take away the indirect kills, Imu has more bodies than Garling, and more bodies than most One Piece antagonists

I've recently finished Demon Slayer (yeah, I know, late to the party) and holy shit it was so bloodthirsty. Ofc the story had it ups and downs, but I legit wasn't sure who will live and who will die from the Demon Slayer corps, especially in the last big fight. Out of 9 hashiras they got about 2-3 alive? They lost arms and other body parts?Sure, the author found a way to have some sort of happy ending, but it was really unusual after OP. In OP I feel chill, if even Pound and VP are somehow alive, there's no way Oda will kill, say, Loki. I am still surprised some scabbards died (and am still salty about Izou). The death of Yasuie is probably one of the best recent deaths we got, very impactful imo. I'd say Gaban still has a death flag, but I root for him to live, his family will outlive him anyways, they deserve a few more happy years together.
But Loki, Hajrudin, Dory & Broggy, even the old guy with the sword in his head are all very likely to survive Imu's descent to Elbaph. Some random giants nobody really cares about might die tho.

Oda has established that at the end of DR that a character's body returned to normal. So it's still ultimately Garling's kill, though it obviously wasn't earned, but it's still on Oda for not having Imu be present. Cobra and Saturn are true.....though Saturn feels unfair lmao.
