[FNZ] Role Madness Jojo's Bizzare Adventure Mafia

My thoughts on inactivity. Since no one asked, I absolutely have to answer.

I think until a player base is built up, it might be better to get people to sign up and then come up with roles/set up.

My other suggestion, is towards the players. Don't be guilted or anything else to play a game if you don't want to play and you aren't going to be active. I know I'm bad at pressuring people to play too which leads to inactives. This also goes to if you don't feel comfortable if you land scum and posting consider not playing. Even pretending, to participate is simple.

Inactives ruin the game. You get lynched if you are inactive and your town. And for scum, it sucks for town when they don't get to scum hunt you. Like I said, I would've found all the mafia members, likely even Yoho, but as for Handium & Luka? I would've never found them, because there was nothing to find.

Ali v2

No regret, yet, every regret.
i guess u didn't have heindsight knowledge on how the game will turn out, personally tho i think we shouldn't prioritize subbing people with sub 500 posts over others that are struggling to meet the min post count. i dont think muugen or ali needed an urgent sub because there is content to read from both of their slots imo. these 2 are examples off top my head. basically im saying if we have limited subs we can sub into people who arent playing then come back to those who have some posts but may end up being inactive later.

dw im not calling you out
I think you are underestimating the severity of the situation here brother, flower should have been mod killed for spitting in the game and asking others to drink regardless. Once that was denied and she and her lawyer naomi were allowed to continue their “game throwing” agendas, all incentive to continue playing the game was over for me. And things were apparently getting personal on their end so I had to sub out since flower said she won’t be subbing out and put me on ignore which is again, literal game throwing that went unpunished, cuz oh … females.

Inactives, are such a automatic in games. I didn't even sign up for this game and only as a sub because I knew I would play join the game before the first two days were over, that's why I read the entire time.:milaugh:

i think i sorta understand. been there brother

what i proposed may be a bit harsh on you, but it overall helps the game health. you can take a break and stop playing for a week and it'd be fine because you have enough content where people can read you from. meanwhile who ever was going to replace you (was it saber?) can instead, say replace handium gianfi etc.. any low activity slot, and it'd tremendously improve the game health and help town read those slots better

THEN after a week break if you choose to come back, great. otherwise maybe fuji can look for a sub for you, and if he doesn't have any subs left then he at least did his best for the game health by making sure every slot have enough content to be read from one way or another.

im using "fuji" as a name cuz of this game but this goes for every host and it's something i've started doing recently.

But too much pressure may also deter.

@Fujishiro i think you gotta say no to some people that request subbing, we are too laxed about people doing bear minimum and requesting a sub. why sign up in the first place yknow

i understand things come up suddenly, im just asking to make subbing more tighter. goes for every host including myself. otherwise we end up with a wasteland of an endgame

for example muugen did not need to really be subbed out with the amount of posts he had unless it was an emergency which doesn't seem to be the case seeing his responses to the sub
I don't know if this is also directed towards me, but while I agree with what you're saying in general, you don't know what people have told Fuji beforehand. For my part, Fuji was aware of my availability before I even agreed to join the game. I went as far as I could go, but when it became clear that my availability was going to be sporadic, and it wasn't a game I could just afford to float by for 5 minutes every other day, I felt like I had to step aside. That said, there have been cases in the past where players have subbed out because of friction with players or for being suspected and so on. It's kind of hard to rule on things like that - for example a hard rule is pretty difficult to put into play because if someone for example is having a triggering episode, forcing them to stay in might be the worst thing for them and the community, so the cost of replacing them vs keeping them in might be worth it.

I also think with games of this size and format people just have to be realistic. Like as not, a fair few players sign up for the roles, to chat with friends a bit, and generally leave it at that. They're not signing up for the long deductive game that requires them to spend hours reading posts, thinking about them, and presenting their analysis in a compelling way. As frustrating as this can be for people, and believe me I could myself amongst the frustrated, the playerbase dictates the market as it were. If we had 20+ dedicated players who could provide good activity then it would be different. The only real solution is some smaller games, but naturally people don't want to host them, they want to include roles and characters they like.

At the end of the day we're talking about a thread that has had upwards of 7000 posts made in it. It feels a little off to be talking about inactivity there.

@Fujishiro what a clusterfuck, ha.
Just don’t hesitate to hostkill inactives and throwers and the state of the game will fix itself quickly, winning is still the incentive driving most players, I think, no one wants to be host killed, but no one will fear that if it’s just words on paper.
Problem with modkills is it swings the game, very easily could end 2 or 3 days earlier if they fall onto the wrong slots. If not worse, tbh.

That said, I think what we can do is have the hosts of each game PM me a list of players they felt were not active enough and wouldn't communicate with the host over this. What I can do then is create a warning list, if players get like 3 mentions there then maybe we can look at signup bans etc. The reason I say to do it this way is because it's honestly impossible for me to keep track and my judgement may be different to others. So if the host gets to decide, I think that's fair.
