I'm not a fan of how Kishi spends his storytime and the characters he chooses to focus on(the autistic fixation on the Uchiha clan), but sometimes you have gold and sometimes you don't. I don't think the Konoha 11 had that much long-term appeal.
I mostly think the same about the Supernova, but even their was probably more potential actually.

I think this is why
Because the thing is, Naruto is really grounded in visual fights and stuff especially compared to other shonen
It doesn't look complicated
So I think the weird part about it is that you mix these things together:
- bubbly shonen attitude
- abstract power system
- lots of exposition without a previous basic explanation of the power system ( like Rayleigh laying out simply the 3 types of haki ), I mean the power system gets explained in words but not really properly explained imo
- very grounded visuals, the characters fight in villages and forests but they are far beyond that level
And the thing is, I think the mix of all that is what makes it feel weird to me
