That is not Sasuke stealing focus. That is Sasuke fulfilling the role he was created for. He was never some random side character who got too much attention. He was designed to guide the story alongside Naruto. Remove Sasuke and you remove the central conflict, the emotional tension, and the main test of Naruto’s entire worldview. The series would have been far weaker without him.

I did not say that out of bias. Kishimoto himself said that before Sasuke, the story felt like it was going nowhere, and he thought it might be cancelled after ten weeks. His editor suggested giving Naruto a rival, and that became Sasuke. In other words, Sasuke did not hijack the story. His introduction gave the series direction and helped define what Naruto was actually going to be about.
Sasuke was never treated as unbeatable. He had wins, losses, failures, frustrations, and moments where he was completely wrong. That "infallible genius" treatment fits Itachi much more than Sasuke. He constantly unveils convenient hidden jutsu, possesses mythical weapons with almost no proper groundwork, and is written in a way that shields him from serious criticism. He murdered innocent children, and instead of being judged accordingly, he is glorified by nearly everyone who understands what happened.
