Oda did not ruin anyone here. It is pretty clear that he wants Luffy to get out of Elbaph as quickly as possible, because the man Roger was waiting for cannot afford to throw his life away there. And it is not as if Gaban was considering running away either, especially when he had just sacrificed himself only a few chapters earlier. His goal is clear, and it makes sense.

Yeah, hopping between different islands every arc isn't going to be fun. Oda should just wrap up his Elbaf plotlines first. Setting up the SHP vs the HK and doing nothing with it is....not a good idea, just so people can see Drag-on and Shanks

the aramaki one is a bit more up in arms, but honestly, what else would happen to him?
unlike issho he's clearly a villainous character who likely won't be redeemed, and the only top tiers i could reasonably see him fighting are mihawk, shanks, and teach, but teach likely won't care about him that much

Hakai is way stronger than Garp and Roger’s strongest attacks combined.
