Usopp suddenly appears on Hajrudin’s left shoulder.

Usopp: Two years ago, on Little Garden, they cleared a path for our ship when we were in a hurry to get somewhere! That was Dorry and Brogy! At Enies Lobby, Oimo and Kashii helped us rescue our crewmates! And Hajrudin and the rest of the New Giant Warrior Pirates… they even became my “underlings”!!

Hajrudin (in a low voice): We’re Straw Hat’s underlings… but I guess that’s fine…

Usopp: You expect us to turn our backs on these people we owe so much to and run away!?

Gaban: —But that form of his is the appearance of a God that Elbaph’s long history has been longing for! You guys don’t understand the gravity of this…!!

Usopp: I don’t care about that!! “Nika” this, “Joy Boy” that… and to top it all off, you’re even associating him with “Roger” too!!

Gaban: *Hm? Where the heck was this guy all this time…?*

Usopp: “Legend”!? “Great Warrior”!? You’re free to put your hopes in Luffy all you want!! But if that means taking away his “freedom,” we will never allow that*!

(*This is the reference to the chapter’s title.)

Usopp: Hey, you, Left Hand of the Pirate King!! The man Luffy has always been is still the same! He may have turned white, he may have become a Yonko, but nothing about him has changed!!! Luffy is always serious!! That’s just who he is!!! Even if the enemy is the “World’s” whatever… He should still have the freedom to choose—even an honorable death!!!

Not happening

Oda will have to end the elbaf show by having hybrid Loki solo manhandle Imu if this where to happen.

He won’t do that,Imu will get defeated Ina similar fashion to how domi rocks was defeated by Roger and garp
Ngl, still holding out hope for the possibility of a genuine failure here (no matter hkw unlikely, because Oda.....😭😭😭). Bear with me here. Its already established this chapter (if it wasn't already clear) that Luffy in character will never back down and retreat, and abandon his friends to die just for a little thing like the fact that he CAN'T win. He would rather die fighting than do that, and Usopp outright says that. And the SH's clearly agree.

But (and this a big "but"), it was also established last chapter that Luffy is basically only on his feet because of G5, and whenever he inevitably gasses out he is going to drop like a sack of potatoes. Worse than normal, because he is all sorts of fucked up here. After Kaido he was unconscious for a week straight, I would be shocked if he wasn't down for a good minute after getting as badly hurt as he is right now. So if he drops, he is going to be a liability on the battlefield, and at that point he kind of NEEDS to be removed. Whether Gaban disregards bis feelings and saves him regardless, or Hajrudin saves him (with the INTENTION of coming right back to die alongside his brother) or whatever, once Luffy CAN'T fight, the option of retreat opens up again.

Would Imu let that happen? No, obviously, but then we can lean into Loki going absolutely all out to stall him. Have Loki stall for long enough for Luffy and his brother to get to a means of escape (through whatever BS mechanism; could even have lobotomised Kuma shazam then all back to the Sunny and then send the Sunny flying. Lol. He IS still around and has done fuck all, and the current situation should probably set off those "Save Bonney" instincts again)., and THEN have Loki.....and hear me out.......make a deal. What did the WG come to Elbaf for originally? To have Loki become a HK. First thing they wanted. Have Loki willingly take the job offer in exchange for the non combatants/"weak" Giants being given a pass (which he could easily try and sell his brother as being a part of; same kind of shit he used to say about him as kids, but with the context of trying to save him this time). You could also throw in other Giant warriors following his lead to save as many as possible.

I think that works for a number of reasons. 1) It gives Imu what he wants (mostly) and makes the WG a lot stronger and more threatening moving forwards.
2) Its an easy way to redeem Loki in the eyes of Elbaf, with him blatantly sacrificing himself for them in a way very reminiscent of his father (and Loki has always taken after his father a lot; Loki is literally just like Young Harald before he matured). Remember that even without the Harald murder he was still the asshole who always caused trouble, committed arson, unleashed giant monsters on them, seemingly slaughtered a whole village for reasons unknown, and even just today created a huge fire which almost killed a bunch of kids. He still needs SOMETHING to fix his image, at least the way Oda normally writes.
3) It builds onto the SH's failure (by making someone ELSE be responsible for saving the only people who GOT saved.) while still allowing for there to be a silver lining. Because Oda would NEVER let there be JUST a failure. Even ar Marineford he had Shanks show up to save the WB Pirates from being entirely wiped out.
4) it gives Luffy and Hajrudin a LOT more personal motivation moving into the final war.

Tl;dr? Luffy gasses out, someone saves him against his will (preventing unnecessary character assassination), Loki sacrifices himself but more in a way his father would than a classic warriors prideful death, the WG gets a big win, and some people get enslaved but not everyone. With the whole thing having the chance to genuinely impact the cast emotionally.

.......now is any of this likely? No, but a man can dream, can't he?
:doffycry:

Even Big Meme in WCI looked more threatening than Imu
Meme had absolute defense, nobody could even scratch her
Meanwhile Imu is a punching bag that keeps bleeding, vomitting blood or laying in pool of his own blood

Big Meme's children are also >>>>> Holy Jobbers
Katakuri looked like a real threat, and a competent one. At least until he stabbed himself
Perospero caused a real death, and even with Pedro dying it was still not enough to stop Perospero, it only costed his arm
The Enraged Army was cool too, they actually able to capture a tired Luffy

Looks to me like Luffy’s punch did considerably more damage than Gabamy’s attack. Luffy also still has an arm after lol.

Also just to let you know as a Luffy fan I don’t care if Luffy gets help.
Look who crawled out of his hole
Mr "Don L Takes" tryna take another self inflicted L for no goddamn reason :HappyClown:

Lokis massive charge up clearly doing nothing despite the name being a Thor gun which means it’s using Lokis lightning in it

:suresure:

Dude just needs to accept Luffy can’t do anything wit his own strength alone

State of Sanji fans rn

Your boy is stuck fighting a Holy Jobber no one wants to see for months

Even if Sanji unlocks CoC this arc, poor Sanji actually unlocks it at worst possible moment ever. Nobody stops caring about CoC anymore
Deep inside you know it would be far better if he unlocked it during Queen fight, not during Holy Jobber fight

Compare it to Luffy's CoC reveal moment or Zoro's CoC reveal moment
Sanji's CoC reveal moment, if there is any, is so shit when all excitement is all on lowest possible point

It's mad what bitterness does to a man lol
Don't know if he's trynna flame or if he actually believes all of the tomfoolery that comes out his mouth :risitameh:
Entertainment though so can't complain :luffylaugh:
