With virus, it is definitely understandable. Yet, he wa taking breaks this frequently before the virus too.
No, he wasn't. We generally had 3 or 4 chapters between each break. which is very decent, especially from someone like Oda who has health issues. Calling him lazy when he's been working at a frenetic pace for 23 years makes no sense. Fans don't seem to understand the reality behind a mangaka's job, how stressful it is and how much work it requires, they just wait for the chapters and read them so they feel like it's easy. From their perspective, they can only feel the pleasure of reading a story they enjoy but not the amount of work behind it. Being able to keep up with this rythm for 20+ years is very impressive and a lazy person can't do that.

Don’t get me wrong buddy, I completely respect the job he does, the hours and the care he put into his work and the way he gives importance and priority to progression of the manga despite his health conditions. I, myself, sleep 3-4 hours maximum everyday due to my work (RFIC Design Engineer) and spend my entire weeks/months for designing and simulating and sending multiple circuits to production (not mentioning test and redesign steps lol) simultaneously without making any single mistake and satisfying design requirements. Considering that I have started to have this kind of lifestyle for the last 4 years, I can only imagine how tiring it must be for a man with health condition to do it for 20 years.
It is just that, I get carried away sometimes and might become a bit too perfectionist. As a design engineer and an academician, I sometimes lean towards no-break, only-work and militaristic kind of lifestyle. If anything, it was me getting carried away at the moment and I apologize sincerely. :)

No need to apologize, it's ok to have strong disagreements as long as we can stay civilized and constructive. I appreciate your humility though.

Nope lol :D From another country. Coffee, I go for 10-15 cups a day. Gotta admit I have started to observe side effects after 4 years though. Over-stressing and over-exerting myself, reduced amount of sleep and workaholic lifestyle took its toll on my body and my personal life to some degree. I actually appreciate that Oda tries to spend some time for himself and his co-workers/assistants. I have to find that kind of balance in my life too lol.
