Yeah, but you're talking about Luffy getting hit by Kaido while worrying about his life. That can't really be compared to Katakuri spending the early years of his childhood watching his mom fight the other Rocks pirates for territory, and just interacting with other people in the new world in general, who would have regularly been interacting with all the major figures who have COC. Plus, that's just taking for granted that Big Mom wouldn't tell Katakuri for no reason about such a major powerup

Yeah but if Luffy the haki prodigy couldn’t identify it by seeing it then who’s to say Katakuri could? It might be something that’s nearly impossible to truly understand without experiencing it
As for Big Mom not telling him that’s pretty easily explained by Big Mom wanting to maintain control by keeping all of her children under her thumb. We know she treats her children like she owns them and we know that unlike other One Piece characters she doesn’t subscribe to the idea of “the son should surpass the father” even into adulthood
Whitebeard was hesitant to even allow another conqueror like Oden into his crew despite some of his good qualities, this would just be a twisted version of that
Can she continue to keep Katakuri under her thumb if he’s a fully realized and powerful conqueror?
