It wasnt just that tho it was to overcome his fear of his brother/family, represented as a needle. Which is his brother's powers
And in next arc we see even without the needle he fears illumi and thats why he is ready to shut down Nanika, but then he comepletly overcomes it and decided to protect nanika and alluka no matter what

The BB Pirates are way stronger than the Holy Bums.

So I'm not too worried about them when they do fight against Zoro and Sanji.

Yeah I mean, Oda could *make* them stronger (or even just more competent at fighting Zoro and Sanji) than HKs.
So far, though, they at least are mortal, which already makes them weaker to non-CoC attacks and therefore much less protected in general against ZoSan.

But even then, narratively it'd STILL feel like a step down from our current predicament, which again is 'THE EVILEST BADDEST WORLD RULER TRYING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD' while Elbaph goes through Ragnarok.

I'm still confused abkut this chapter. So sanji unlocks his full potential but not ACoC yet. So does that mean all along he was fighting nerfed? It seems like Oda is using this time to give Sanji multiple powerups tp justify the mental nerf?

Let me spell it out.
First and foremost, what Gaban says:
"You have the qualities of someone who might have Haoshoku, but you are held back by this self deprecation".

Sanji needs 2 things.
1 - overcome his self deprecation nerf.
2 - actively unlock Haoshoku by deciding what type of "king" he's going to be.

It's not "multiple PUs". It's a process.

But it clearly indicates that the mental nerf being taken gives Sanji an upgraded sense of dodging. He literally becomes a dodge tank. So that is just powerup #1. But that atill doesnt deal with thr holy knights immortality which will be powerup #2. Thats a lot of powerups in just one go isn't it?

I do, Zoro was stronger which is the obvious conclusion, so much stronger than Oda had to come up with a whole storyline of Sanji being nerfed to make them equal again.

So from what I can gauge:-
1. Sanji inhibitor Unleashed ( is it permanent? ) the fact he used Ifrit Jambe without the eyebrow changing does that mean sanjis eyebrows will permanently stay in the other direction as a sign he has fully come to terms with his sense of self.
2. Whilst Sanji dominated he still cant put Killingham down for good and then uses his new sense of self to unlock ACoC.

This would be like a main character level powerup. Like luffy I wano getting acoc and nika awakening.
