Sanji writing is pretty good.
But this random flashback on both Zoro and Sanji kinda confirmed that they are fighting without their full potential while Luffy always fighting with his full potential and limits.
The only thing terrible here is adding sum flashback that are supposed to happened when they are struggling.
I don't even surprised if somehow Mihawk told Zoro how to permanently making Black Blade and things about his eye scar.

TBF I'd argue that Zoro's biggest and most emotional powerup is gonna be Blackblades so there's still room for some emotional flashback/build ups for that
