Yeah zoro got too strong too fast hence Oda has had trouble having him near where the plot progressed in egghead, you've indeed discovered it.
Now that he has ACoC control, even his normal based attacks can damage top tiers.
So he's just flat out one of the most lethal character in the verse. It's a pretty big power up, more to do w consistency.
