Sigh.., if Oda really gonna do that.., smh.., this is why I dislike One piece in this particular matter, luffy is just a teenage kid, while he's undoubtedly been through hard battle and shit, there's no way that's comparable with these adult monsters had been through, in fact he's growth rate is really absurd to begin with, he's like what..?, 18?, while... god knows for how long and hard katakuri(40s) had trained to achieve FS, and what luffy had to do is just eat some punches and kicks.., basically stalling him long enough and suddenly he started to develop the same shit..?, really..??, I know he's the MC, so oda gotta make some shit up for these kids/audiences to jerk off for.., but I personally hate this kind of asspull..
I feel you on this one. Had my problems with that aswell, but it's not really as absurd as you'd think it is.

Even in RL we got such prodigies.
Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight boxing champion ever with just 20years old.
Kyle Snyder just a few years back, became the youngest olympic gold medalist in free style wrestling form the USA.
Abdul Rashid Sadulaev completely destroyed the senior competition with just 18years old on his first international senior debut in 86kg free style wrestling.
Or just take a look at Michael Phelps. Dude beat world records with 15. He's the embodiment of being a prodigy, with having the right determination and fitting genetics.

Guys like Luffy and Ace are exactly that. Very talented, they have the right genetics, grew up within the right environment, all the while devil fruits and haki can develop their full potential independent from physical stats. Look at Fujitora, going by physical stats, he's likely in their range and still a solid top tier.
Though the legitimacy of obtaining such PUs, like Future sight, is definitely argueable, no question mate.

I agree Luffy will be PK at 20y at worst. But for me this is clearly bad. Every other big time pirates are at least 30s and Luffy will do everything when he barley left his teenage years.
The growth rate of the person corresponds to the actions of that individual...they have never done the things that Luffy did and trying to do...the danger rate/risk Luffy put himself is far higher than they ever put themselves and hence he has corresponding rewards and growth rate......additionally he has strong bloodline .....combining these things I simply don't see why it is bad writing.....

Yep realistically it would take Luffy many more years than 2 to become strong enough to challenge the Yonkos and become the Pirate King just like how Roger's ascension was a slow one.

RayanOO

Lazy is the way

I think his progression is too fast. Too fast learning advanced COO and too fast learning advanced COA. Too fast for everything. I agree that its a shonen so Luffy needs to do everything better and faster than anyone but at least I would have wanted him to reach 22/23 before being PK. Seeing a teenage band succeding where every seasoned pirates failed can be sometimes a bit too cliche.
