Sanji was almost hit by the left roundhouse swipe, which is just for play. Why is he so slow to Vergod who isnt even using his fighting style and manages to play with him in such a patronizing manner?

I got a new theory. Vergo is the missing link between monkeys and apes. That's why his cognitive capabilities are subpar for even smart gorillas.
