I guess that is more a blame against Oda? He took Apoo out for that moment and gave him one punch for revenge. But Kid is not there to take revenge and he is not there cause of Apoo, he is there to go against Kaido. So he took out Apoo for the moment and safe as much power as possible for his goal in Onigashima. Something Luffy should do too.
