Powers & Abilities Should Zoro deserve to be equal with Luffy in Strength?

-Only canon fight between them ends in a perfect draw
-Characters always wonder why Zoro isn't the captain of the crew
-Oda always avoids making Zoro fight the main villain, while he has no such restriction with Sanji (Doffy), Enel being an obvious exception

OP is a great manga that gets looked at every which way by readers.
A lot of readers are locked into this idea that Luffy just has to be stronger since he's the main character, and there's this nasty Mandela effect thing where people believe Oda stays locked into the standard arc fight pattern so therefore Zoro must be second.
He just isn't inferior to Luffy in a sense other than how he matches up. Like okay he couldn't scratch Ener but this guy's only possible chance of losing to pirates at that level was if someone had a magical rubber fruit so...

Stop the cap, Zoro has never been stronger than Luffy. Not once has Oda made a vc or first mate stronger than a captain. If Zoro was a rival, that woulda made much sense but seeing as Zoro chose to be Luffy's subordinate, he passed up his chance of surpassing Luffy.
If this was Naruto, Luffy would be Naruto and the rest of the Strawhats would be the Konoha 11.

Luffy learned FS and advanced CoA, Zoro caught up with his Enma training which was an actual legit solid training unlike Udon's
