They did not cut Kaido, both i and @Garp the Fist already explained this.

That's debris that flies off when Oda draws impact in fights, cuz he thinks its cool or something.

It happened in this chapter with Luffy's naked fist punching Kaido's naked stomach as well, or when Kidd was crushing him, and @Garp the Fist brought the example of the same thing happening when Zoro could not cut Mr.1 back in Alabasta.

I don't see what those captains did differently from Zoro and Killer that would excite him.
Luffy was the only one to deal some real damage so it's obvious he is talking abut all five of them here

In any case Kaido felt all attacks, for Zoro&Killer : The symbol next to Kaido neck imply pain. Kaido felt the hit:

That panel, Zoro and Killer did virtually nothing to Kaidou, but that's not the point that Oda is trying to make. It's the fact that Zoro and Killer both aimed directly at Kaidou's neck, which would have resulted in his demise if they are strong enough. How many times has Zoro aimed at anyone's neck? It showed that, they are not here just to beat Kaidou. They are here to FUCKING.KILL.KAIDOU. Even Kidd and Law talked about trying to kill Kaidou in this thread. But we all know who's gonna do that :zorothink:

Well this thread is about now. I said that Oda will play on these dynamics of three captains and two first mates, and people were calling me a hater for it
