Some people might know the Tintin cartoon. Well early One Piece has a similar art direction. The palette of color, the "comic" look, the various effect of water or wind. It's very impactfull when you are a kid and you watch that. It grips you into the story. You almost remember the ambiance more that what is happening.
I think one of the reasons some anime people love pretimeskip so much (me included) is the art-direction which is immaculate up to marineford (it kinda peaks in Water Seven). after that, the art team took to many too many shortcuts and the result had no real coherency, which led to flat drawings and stiff animations. Gladly, they decided to change things aroundn wano. And now, we have something really cool.
I saw someone laugh in the Nakama thread about Usopp and Mjölnir.. Don't forget that the hammer has been Usopp's secondary weapon and tool from the start. It represents his craftness and courage. It would be narratively logical to make Usopp hold it.
Even if they are all cool.. Antagonist post-time skip are much better written than pre-time skip ones. Aside from a few exceptions, the motivations of the early antagonists were mostly neglected to a simple wish or a dream.. but post time skip? There are entire backstories, needs and desires. While Oda pushed the exageration meter, he mades them much more layered
For those who don't understand. I was threadbanned from the political thread for calling people who apologized for fascist, war crimes or massacre on subjugated people .."Fascist".
Make a choice: What do you want worstgen to be? A safe place Celestial Dragons to speak? A safe place for pirate to speak? Or a safe place for Revolutionaries to speak? (All these choices are exclusionary)
