I don’t think it’s a good comparison. The characters get stronger as they travel the seas in OP, and the rest is about resolve and willpower of the characters. There are limits tot hat explanation but nothing feels contrarian to this approach.
DBZ can do the same. Off screen training
Do you think it’s more interesting to treat attacks and situations like its base damage and defense stats like an rpg? Real life doesn’t even work like that. Sometimes you can take something a lot better when you expect it. Versus getting hit blind sided or surprised. I don’t wanna make excuses...
People getting worked up over Hajrudin tanking Omen attacks need to stop treating powerscaling as priority. Not once have we seen Hajrudin fight seriously since Dressrosa, so clearly he got a buff. People act like Oda prioritizing the narrative over powerscaling is bad? If it is believable and...
I like Gear 5, it seems fine except for Luffy’s over the top identity change. I think he loses character depth when he goes Gear 5. Maybe that’s the thing he has to overcome, the devil fruit dictating a bit too much.
If Luffy says he feels the most free in this form, the. That’s a problem...
Yonko or currently known characters of the world are not meant to be the strongest of all. Narratively it was established to be Imu and Joyboy until Luffy surpasses that. It isnt that deep really or complicated. Been reading shonen manga and One Piece for how long and that still isnt obivous...
I never understood this whole Luffy is weak to piercing slashing attacks thing. It’s not like he’s any weaker than anyone else getting slashed or pierced. Flesh is flesh. I think it’s more he’s vulnerable to that whereas blunt attacks he is resistant to/absorbs it.
It’s not a weakness like...
It’s not really a late thing or not if it serves the narrative of the story, not some shonen formula. His journey to realize he has conqueror’s is the whole point.
Sanji is a wing and comparable to Zoro and younger than Jinbei so it’s not “late”. For Sanji it’s not late narratively or in the story. Zoro hasn’t even mastered his yet and just got it.
Didn’t Vegapunk mention that awakened Zoans can take over or change the personality of the user. Like overwhelming the identity to its own will and nature?
I think that’s what’s going on and it’s more of hindrance in a fight like this. Imagine Luffy with the focus of his fight with Lucci...
Luffy needs to stop fucking around in G5 and lock in. When dealing with a no games overpowered character, his overpowered abilities are outmatched because he is isn't serious enough. You add that with the power difference, and its a wrap. Hopefully this loss allows him to take more personality...
He’s still cool, but he’s become a bit too one dimensional. The badass stoic swordsman thing took over to the point it flattened him. I miss where he was badass and had more expressions…doesn’t change the fact he’s a lot of people’s favorite character. But it’s because of that one trait or sub...
