My argument is that Kaido already acknowledged that Luffy can reach that potential of using advanced CoC but will not do so because he is too injured now and his life was about to end here. Kaido never expected Zoro to do anything close to that, which is why he took the hit without dodging. The moment he realized otherwise, he acknowledged Zoro as a conqueror.
And when Zoro told him that he doesn't understand what Kaido's talking about, Kaido realizes that Zoro used it unconciously and by accident, just like how the entirety of Marineford understood that Luffy's usage of CoC over there was by accident.
It has nothing to do with Luffy since he already acknowledged Luffy's ability to reach those heights when he compared Luffy with those 5 Pirates.
Here's a simple rundown so you don't twist my words.

Chapter 1010 - Post Asura : Kaido acknowledges Zoro's ability as a CoC user and a potential adv CoC user, although he used adv CoC by accident, which he very clearly communicated to Kaido when he said that he has no idea what he's talking about.
Chapter 1010 - Dead man Walking : Kaido says something along the lines of "Luffy's potential is gonna be wasted because he's already at death's door and I'm gonna kill him right now."
Well it didn't. So if anything it's your headcanon (that air slashes should have scarred him) that is wrong since Oda confirmed in that SBS (thanks for correcting me) that Kamusari was infused with Conquerors.
You do realize that the term "advanced Conquerors" is entirely a fan made term and the official term is infusing Conquerors into attacks right?
Oda very clearly talked about how Kamusari and Togen Totsuka were infused with Conquerors in SBS 100.
You can draw your own conclusions but it was canonically stated in the manga that Kaido right now is a lot stronger than the one which Oden fought.

I'm kinda hoping Luffy pulls the whole Goku vs Buu thing (showcasing SS3) with Kaido where he goes through all of his G4 transformations before doing a new G4 form or G5.

One More thing i want to point out is that hes been fighting nothing but top tiers since hes been active in Onigashima.
