Speculations Why is Oda having Luffy face the CDs this early?

Luffy fought the Gorosei in Egghead

Now in Elbaf it appears as if the Holy Knights could be the main villains.

If this is the case, then that means that between Egghead and Elbaf, the SHs would have faced every major CD besides Garling and Imu himself.

Honestly looks like Imu might be the Big Mom of the final Saga. Much like BM, the SHs faced her crew in WCI, with BM herself falling in wano but being beaten by allies instead of by Luffy himself.

Similarly if the SHs faced the gorosei in Egghead and now the holy knights in Elbaf, they might not fight Imu outright. Like BM in WCI, Oda could have Imu be a ticking time bomb in Elbaf, summoned by Pranks but ultimately beaten by plot.

Then in the final war, Imu could simply fall to allies like BM did, while Luffy and the SHs take the BBP.

Who would beat Imu? I think Sabo makes a pretty strong candidate. He already faced Imu once in reverie. Big Mom fell in a 2v1, so if Imu is the same maybe it will be Sabo and Koby vs Imu? Both were featured in the 1121 spread.

Sabo would likely get logia awakening, while Koby gets more haki boosts. Both should be top tier by the time the final war comes.

No matter how strong Imu is, two top tiers should be enough to beat him, even if only in an extreme diff battle with plot.

Who else does he have left to fight?

Blackbeard? That's Koby's prey

Akainu?- i think it'll ne better for Sabo to take him down

The top brass of the world government is the only enemies luffy has left to fight

Same reason he encountered subordinates of Yonko and Yonko commanders in the previous saga. This saga has had him face an Admiral and Gorosei to an extent, which suggest Akainu and Imu are at least his enemies going forward. Blackbeard is obvious and an exception. Considering the most recent chapter, no idea about Shanks. If its him, then yup. If its not then its whoever this is.

CDs are the only faction that hasn’t gotten to show off at all or even appear as anything beyond inbred slobs, for most of the series. Gorosei being fighters and the existence of holy knights have been a very recent phenomenon so far.

Admirals got to show off in Sabaody, MF, and Egghead.

BB pirates have appeared throughout Jaya, Marineford, Dressrosa, and now have had several clashes in Egghead.

Revolutionaries had Dressrosa (via Sabo) and Reverie, where they revealed their powers and briefly fought the admirals.
This is the final saga, might not be worth it atp to start hiding entire factions.

Because the final saga is about Teach and Imu
Yonko Saga was about BM and Kaido

Imu ain't losing to Sabo or whoever. He's losing to Joyboy Luffy

Akainu is under Imu

Luffy fighting admiral , gorosei, Knight only proves Imu is the main guy whom Luffy defeats later

"Why is Oda having Luffy face the CDs this early?"

The FUCK do you mean "early" huh? Luffy did not do shit to any of the Gorosei that stuck, and actively ran away from them. Two of at minimum 9 of the God Knights are on Elbaf, and Luffy for SURE is not beating Shanks bro this arc either since they arrived via the magic circle and at most will send him home.

This is pretty much like his first meeting with Blackbeard at most, excepts it wont be Gear 2 Luffy that sent any of the God Knights asses flying.

This is also the final saga. At what point would YOU have Luffy meet the actual major scope villains of the story without it being an ass-pull and giving them too little built up?

I swear, the way some of you be thinking if Imu is not fighting Luffy in Chapter 1498 and the story ends at 1500 that would be a confirmation to you that Imu is not the TRUE endgame and Blackbeard would take over in the final chapter.

Because Government was never the main villains of this story.

Emperors are.
