General & Others Unpopular Opinions?

I can steelman some arguments as to why he should, he did after all show quite the ambition in challenging for control despite Sengoku's wishes, but for me it's still a no.

If I could boil it down: to me, a Conqueror is the master of their fate (for good or ill), and I view Sakazuki as a slave to ideology.

Absolute Justice is a fascist ideology, and fascism cages all.

Conquerors are their own sovereigns.

I'm high af and getting too flowerly with it, but I think I've made my point. :suresure:

This just isnt true anymore though. The Gorosei have it despite bowing before Imu, Yamato needed other people to start a war with Kaido before actually doing anything, Zoro, Rayleigh and Ace all had captains who they respected as authorities beyond their own, and Garp has it despite being a marine. COC doesnt really mean anything anymore. But yeah, I agree that admirals shouldnt have it.

It's a great point and you almost convinced me.
Yet, Oda is a friend of the cousin of my uncle and he told me Akainu will have CoC.

Conquerors don't have to lead. They just have to live life completely on their own terms, that is not mutually exclusive with following someone worthy of it.

The Gorosei are largely a mystery I have no problem whatsoever with them having CoC. It does not feel like a contradiction thematically.

Well we have an early issue, Yamato wasn't living their life on their own terms.

Yes but they were in wano their whole life because of fear of Kaido. That's not being your own sovereign. Same with garp or people following other captains who are the "sovereign"
Sovereignty isn’t about being in control of the environment around you, it’s about making your own choices.

Garp is not in control of who the Marines serve any more than Yamato was in control of Wano - they still chose to define their own roles.

For Garp it meant refusing promotions and shaping the future generations of Marines. For Yamato, it meant assuming the role of Oden.

If yamato didn't had oden fetish , she would have much better life. Or if she never witnessed oden's execution , she would never be oden fangirl.
Perhaps, but she did, and she made a choice.

This doesn´t even mean anything. Sovereignty is about having the final say, or full control over something. If we are using it to mean characters who make choices, then literally every single character makes their own choices. Certainly every single pirate who starts a journey is making their own choices. Rayleigh and Zoro choose to serve their captain? Okay, so does almost any pirate under any captain lol. Garp doesn´t want to take a higher position in an organization he doesn´t fully agree with? Okay, why can´t Gin be a conquerer then, since he doesnt agree with everything Krieg does? Once we make ¨supreme king haki¨ about something other then being like a king or conqueror, it becomes meaningless
