I like how Naruto handled its flashbacks and backstories better and short to the point throughout the series especially from the beginning to midway. They’re brief but they still feel complete.
I know the damage is already done but they should’ve taken the same approach.
For example, when Akainu was rambling about Dragon during the Summit War, there could’ve been a quick flashback showing where his parents were killed by pirates, him joining the academy, meeting Dragon and admiring him, sharing sake with him next to Kizaru and Fujitora and then Buster Call on Ohara happened. That’s it, just a simple one or two-episode flashback to summarize Akainu’s backstory in that moment.
Like Naruto, you could easily do that with every key character who shows up instead of making the fandom wait 20 years only to see their feats with no backstory, only to drag out the series even longer. I keep wondering how One Piece is still popular when we barely know anything about the story.
