So basically what I get from this chapter is that Imu comes from an era when magic was real, possibly before DFs became a thing in the OP world.

Magic vs science?

The AK distilled magic to its basics and put it inside technology for everybody to use, including those without magical aptitude nor knowledge of spells.

That technology was called Science Fruits.
