As for Kaido, you can yap all you want but his toughness isn't that great when Kiku stabbed him. It's how many hits he can take. Ling flame off wouldn't even take a millionth of what Kaido endured.

Fun fact - Endurance is a useless stat against Zoro's Dragon Damnation, Kaido wouldn't endure it either.
